Baby Davis is a Boy!!

We are having a nephew!! Haley and Patrick found out that they are having a baby boy and a big one at that. If she goes full term it will probably be around eight and half pounds! Poor Haley! They have a fun little name poll on their blog so go vote!

Kayla-Welcome to Tupelo

I am so pumped one of my bestest friends, Kayla Murphy, has moved to Tupelo for eight weeks! We haven't been in the same town in about five or six years. She is doing her clinicals at NMMC. We have such a fun summer in store.

First Doctor's Appointment

Matt and I had our first Doctor's appointment today! Our doctor is sooo nice. I couldn't be happier with our choice. We didn't find out much today except that I am pregnant and that our due date as of now is January 1, 2008. We are so excited!! I haven't been too sick yet. I did throw up all night last night but it is not constant like Haley's (thank goodness). I am only having migraines. Our next appointment is set for June 12th. We will be able to get a sonogram and hear the heartbeat at that appointment. Keep us and especially baby Vitart in your prayers!

Sugarland

Thursday night I went with my coworker to the Sugarland concert here in Tupelo while Matt went and had a guy's night in Starkville. Despite the scant crowd and a quite interesting one at that, (3,200 people in an arena that holds 10,000) it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The openers, Jason Michael Carrol and Keith Anderson, left much to be desired. However Sugarland made up for their inadequate performance. Jennifer Nettles is an amazing performer and has the most fun on the stage. Plus she is absolutely adorable. My favorite part of the night was when she performed Beyonces "Irreplacable" bluegrass style! It was great! I would highly recommend catching one of their performances! I believe they will be opening for Kenny Chesney the rest of the summer and will make there way to Birmingham and Atlanta sometime in September.

"Now we're hunting"

Within the first ten minutes of my rookie turkey hunt I bagged my first bird.
Bird: Turkey
Sex: Male (aka Gobbler)
Height: appx. 30"
Weight: 18 lbs
Beard: 9"
After spending the weekend of March 17th turkey hunting with my father-in-law, the expert outdoorsman and fanatic collector of turkey calls, I believe Im hooked on hunting this elusive creature.
The rush of hearing a yelp and gobble echoing through the dimly lit pre-dawn woods is an exhilarating event hard to match elsewhere. Personally it was more leg-shaking than spotting a massive buck strolling across your path (not that Ive seen many of those in my short hunting career).
I believe I prefer it for the same reasons I prefer fly-fishing to cast-fishing. Catching a turkey is much more interactive, challenging, and up-close than other types of hunting.
Much thanks to Mr. Mark, the Turkey Whisperer, for calling the bird for me. I was very impressed with the connection he seemed to have with the animals. He was inately attuned to their behaviors and language. It seemed as if he was having a conversation with them.

Two Weddings and a Baby

My family has had quite an eventful year to say the least!I don't know if my poor parents can handle any more major events this year!

As of May, they finally had us all off the payroll with my brother graduating from Ole Miss law and I graduating from grad school at State. On December 16, Matt and I were married which was a year long process. Only a short six days later, my brother popped the question to his now future wife. They will be tying the knot on March 30 in Oxford. While in the midst of preparing for that event, we have been blessed with the wonderful news of the first baby in the family. Haley and Patrick(my sister and brother-in-law) are expecting a baby at the end of October. We couldn't be more excited! The McPhail family will be welcoming three new members this year. With the addition of Matt, Jenny, and now baby Davis. God has truly blessed our family!
